Destination wedding dresses should be chosen carefully, as you
will be doing many different things on your big day than you would be if you
had your wedding at home or in your local church or banquet hall. You’ll be
moving around far more, and you may even be on a boat or a beach, depending on
where you choose to have your destination wedding. Here are five perfect
destination wedding dresses if you want to travel for your nuptials.
Strapless wedding gowns are an excellent choice for destination
weddings in warm climates, such as the beach. In fact, a strapless wedding gown
is probably one of the most popular choices in destination wedding dresses.
When you’re on the beach, or even on a cruise ship in the warmest of weathers,
you need to be able to keep cool - no bride looks good when she’s sweating her
face off! You definitely do not want to have sweat stains on your dress, or
have your wedding photos capture a shiny face. Light, airy material is a must
here, but the strapless neckline will keep your arms, shoulders and neck cool,
and those will be the places that overheat the fastest when you’re exposed to
warm weather.
2. Tea Length Bridal Gowns For Beach Destination Weddings
Again, when you’re having a destination wedding on the beach,
you need to stay cool. But nixing the long train has more benefits than just
reducing the amount of fabric you’re going to wear. It also keeps your skirt
hem off the ground, which is essential if you’re going to be walking along the
beach - mud and wet sand will easily run a skirt hem and they will most
definitely destroy a train. If you don’t mind ruining your dress - for example
if it was inexpensive and you really like the look of a frothy train draped
across the sand in wedding photos - then don’t worry about this. However, if
you plan to preserve or keep your destination wedding dress at all, consider a
tea length gown that won’t even brush the ground.
3. Long Sleeves & Thicker Fabrics For Cold Climates
Some brides choose to have destination weddings in colder
climates. There really isn’t anything more magical than an icy, snowy wedding!
A white wedding dress looks amazing surrounded by sparkling snow and silvery
accents, however, for this type of climate, a strapless wedding gown or even a
tea length gown aren’t going to make good destination wedding dresses. If
you’re traveling to a colder climate for your nuptials, definitely select
heavier fabric and a more traditional skirt style or train. You may even want
to consider long sleeves - you can probably get through your ceremony and
possibly your reception in the cold, but you don’t want to have goose flesh in
all of your wedding photos!
4. Simple Wedding Gowns
In traditional weddings, the bride is the center of attention.
Many brides believe that the more detail a dress has, the better. This may be
true for you if you choose to have your wedding in a church or at a banquet
hall, however, destination weddings are more about the surroundings. Sure,
people are still going to pay attention to the bride, but in photographs, the
surroundings are what really matter. Why else would you pay so much money to
travel abroad for your nuptials? Consider selecting a wedding gown that boasts
simplicity instead of overwhelming detail. You’ll still look fabulous - even
more so in your beautiful surroundings!
